Springing into Casual Day action

JOBURG – This year, the Casual Day initiative will be celebrating 21 years of aiding people with disabilities.

To be held on 4 September, the theme for 2015 will be #SpringIntoAction, and by buying a sticker for only R10, you will not only be supporting a great cause, but you will also be able to wear your Crocs to work (if that’s your thing).

The Edcon sponsored initiative has accumulated a vast amount of support since its inception in 1994, with countless lives being touched and changed for the better by the campaign.

Last year, funds raised for people with disabilities amounted to a whopping R24.8 million and organisers are hoping to shatter this record in order to give even more support to the National Council for Persons with Physical Disabilities in South Africa, which owns and manages the project on behalf of all the beneficiaries.

These include the South African National Council for the Blind, the South African Federation for Mental Health, the QuadPara Association of South Africa who protect and promote the interests of people with mobility impairments, Autism South Africa, Down Syndrome South Africa, the National Association for Persons with Cerebral Palsy South Africa, the South African National Deaf Association, Alzheimer’s South Africa and the South African Disability Alliance.

Casual Day is a way for the disability sector to speak with one voice about ushering in a society that values human rights, inclusion, diversity and universal access to education for all its citizens, including those with disabilities.

Get your stickers at participating outlets like Edgars, Jet, Boardmans, CNA, Absa, Shoprite and Checkers, or go to the website to find out more.
