Fourways woman excels in Ironman 5150 challenge

FOURWAYS – Fourways resident, Nastassja Howard participated in her first Ironman 5150, coming third overall, proving why woman have a whole month dedicated to them.

Howard, who balances a full time job with her studies and recent gruelling Ironman 5150 challenge said, “I trained very hard for this and had an amazing result.”

She credited her employer, Sorbet Group, for their support, “Sorbet Group offers yoga every Thursday to staff which helped immensely with my stretching and performance overall.”

Howard added that her great result was quite a surprise, especially because she didn’t have prior experience in swimming and cycling. “I have always been a great runner but cycling and swimming were a first.”

On top of her hectic schedule, Howard still manages to maintain a relationship with beau Jason Azzie, who she explained was heaven-sent.

“A lot of the time people can’t be in relationships when they train this much, and he really was supportive,” she said.

So where does she get all the energy? “It’s all about time management. Many times people think that they don’t have enough time, but I’m a clear example that it is possible,” Howard concluded.
