BRYANSTON - The Brakpan Reaction Unit, with the assistance of Eblockwatch, used the power of community networks to track down and arrest ‘Steve the Shopper’ in Garsfontein in Pretoria on 18 August.

Eblockwatch published a video detailing the arrest headed by the Brakpan Reaction Unit on 18 August. The video shows the authorities gaining entry into his Garsfontein home and searching the premises and the boot of his car to find number of allegedly stolen goods.

Brankpan’s Warrant Officer Jan Roos confirmed that police had seized items valued at up to R15 000 which included laptops, tablets, jewellery and cellphones. Roos added that they have a few complainants who will need to identify the goods found.
