Awarding women in business

FOURWAYS - Fourways resident Jaci Tibbit was recently named finalist of the month for July for the Margaret Hirsch Woman in Business Achiever of the Year competition at Hirsch’s Fourways.

The Margaret Hirsch Woman in Business Achiever of the Year is a competition that honours and awards women in business around Johannesburg on a monthly basis. The competition started at the beginning of the year, and the awarded monthly finalists are each given a certificate and a R500 Hirsch’s voucher.

“I am truly overwhelmed, grateful, honoured and inspired to be named a finalist in the Margaret Hirsch Woman in Business Achiever of the Year Award for the month,” Tibbit said.

Tibbit is a mother of two and the owner of Jackflash which supplies personalised baby on board signs and also supplies to a number of the big retailer outlets in South Africa. She contributes to the community by donating R1 from every sign that is sold to a charity called Door of Hope which has three branches, one in Hillbrow and two in Glenvista.

Tibbit also holds talks to help motivate other women.

According to Brigitte Thysse, regional public relations and marketing manager of Hirsch’s, Tibbit was awarded the month’s finalist position because she met the competition criteria, which is to be a driven, motivated businesswoman who uses her business to help out in the community.

CEO of Hirsch’s, Margaret Hirsch, encourages businesswomen to enter the competition themselves or nominate a friend or business owner who they would like to be recognised. Once the 12 finalists are announced, they will go through a judging process as well as being personally interviewed by Hirsch herself, and the ultimate winner will be announced at Hirsch’s Fourways on 4 December.

The ultimate Woman in Business Achiever of the Year will receive a R10 000 Hirsch’s voucher and runners-up will receive R5 000 and R2 500 respectively.

The next ladies function will take place on 17 September at Hirsch’s Fourways.
