Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation hits SA screens

JOBURG - Tom Cruise is back in his famous role as Ethan Hunt in the fifth installment of the action-thriller Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation.

In the movie, an undercover espionage agency known as the IMF has been under fire and now faces demobilisation. The threat comes in the form of The Syndicate, a solid, well-trained group of rebel spies who have left behind their countries to destabilise the very foundations of civilisation.

The Syndicate has long been rumoured to be just a myth among spies, but Hunt has uncovered the unwelcome reality that this rogue organisation is not only real but a ticking time bomb about to detonate worldwide if he does not act. However, the CIA does not buy it and places Hunt’s team under threat, but he refuses to turn his back on the highest stakes.

Teaming up with Cruise as Hunt’s fellow agents are Jeremy Renner as William Brandt, Simon Pegg as Benji and Ving Rhames as Luther Stickell. Joining the action afresh are Swedish actress Rebecca Ferguson as Ilsa Faust, Sean Harris as Solomon Lane, and Alec Baldwin as CIA director Alan Hunley.

The action film is directed by Christopher McQuarrie and the story is written by him and Drew Pearce. It is based on the TV series created by Bruce Geller. The film is produced by Tom Cruise, JJ Abrams, Bryan Burk, David Ellison, Dana Goldberg and Don Granger with Jake Myers as executive producer.

Mission: Impossible: Rogue Nation is out in South African cinemas nationwide, and promises audiences some fast-paced action and entertainment that will leave them on the edge of their seats.
