Henley supports women in business

PAULSHOF – In line with Women’s Month, Henley Business School Africa has launched Dealdiva™, a two-day programme suitable for women with any level of business experience looking to enhance their negotiating skills and expertise.

The programme addresses the challenges and opportunities women face in doing deals in business and gives insight into the role personality plays in communication in deal-making. Dealdiva™ focuses on making women more skilled negotiators in all kinds of transactions and providing them with the skills to know exactly what is needed to win business deals.

Jon Foster-Pedley, dean of Henley Business School Africa said, “The programme builds confidence and assertiveness, helps reduce frustration or aggression in personal and business transactions and helps one realise that in business being a woman is an advantage, rather than a disadvantage.

“A poor assumption is that fair means equal. Men and women differ, as personalities, in gender and what that brings, and so a one-size-fits-all policy doesn’t necessarily cut it.”

To ensure delegates leave the course as better deal-makers, the programme objectives are reinforced with case simulations, personal coaching and feedback from expert deal-makers.

This course comes on the back of Henley Business School Africa’s commitment to growing women in the workplace. In line with this, the business school has awarded MBA scholarships to two women who work to reduce teenage pregnancies in South Africa.

Goodness Nhlapho received the African Hero Scholarship for the 2015 Henley Flexible Executive MBA for Music and Creative Industries, and Evette Fransman received the 2015 Dean’s Music and Creative MBA scholarship.

“We are taking this challenge head-on. We are driven to impact South African leaders and communities in truly effective ways. Our support of the two MBA scholarships is indicative of this,” Foster-Pedley concluded.

The two-day programme will be held on 11 and 12 August.
