Adhesive tape keeps lions out

LANSERIA - The Lion Park situated near Lanseria has taken drastic measures to ensure that visitors keep their windows closed at all times by forcing visitors to seal their windows with adhesive tape when visiting the park.

This follows the tragic death of 29-year-old American tourist Katherine Chappel who was mauled to death while visiting the park while holidaying in South Africa in June.

According to Scott Simpson, the park’s operations manager, all self-driven visitors to the park’s lion enclosures are forced to tape their windows with self-adhesive tape. Simpson said, “The self-adhesive tape serves as a visual reminder to all visitors to keep their windows closed at all times.”

Simpson explained that the initiative had been well received by visitors and is very successful. He also added that any driver who rolled down their windows would be kicked out of the park.
