Douglasdale CPF in for a change

DOUGLASDALE - Douglasdale Community Policing Forum (CPF) has upcoming elections to nominate new committees, and some long-serving committee members have opted not to run for nominations.

Speaking at a CPF meeting held on 14 July, chairperson of Sector 3, Thibeli Malebo, announced that after eight years of assisting police to fight crime, it was now time to hand over the baton.

Malebo thanked Sector 3 manager, Constable Clement Mkhondo, for his outstanding work and support in the battle against crime and explained that despite his decision to leave the CPF, he was still available to give advice on challenges facing the community, if need be.

The Sector 3 elections will take place on 1 August to allow the nominees time to read the constitution and for arrangements to be made.

Jean Berdou, chairperson of the Douglasdale CPF, applauded Malebo for his hard work over the years, and urged him to reconsider his decision.

Malebo also confirmed that Sector 3 members, deputy chairwoman Madeleine Bruckmann and committee secretary Leila Keip would also not be standing for nominations.

Sector 2 may also see drastic changes as Lakho Ntlhane, chairperson of the sector, stated that he was unsure if he would be running.
