Roads agency to attend to potholes on Protea Road

BLUE HILLS - Protea Road in Blue Hills has been riddled with dangerous potholes and unsightly ditches for months now.

This according to a concerned resident in the area, Robin Smylie who reported the matter to the Johannesburg Roads Agency (JRA) on two occasions. Smylie first reported the issue on 16 April, then again on 15 May and was given the same reference number.

Ward 112 councillor Candice James said she was aware of the problem and had since been in contact with the roads agency inquiring about the delay.

Spokesperson for the entity, Bertha Peters-Scheepers said, “Following inspections of the road condition, the JRA team determined that the road requires rehabilitation at base layer level to ensure ease of mobility for road users.”

Peters-Scheepers said the agency had secured the necessary materials and the road would be scheduled for rehabilitation.

She appealed to the community to be patient while the project was in progress.
