This comes after reports on social media that warned motorists and bikers to be careful when taking the William Nicol Drive off-ramp, as motorbikes were being targeted.
Warrant Officer Balan Muthan, head of communications for the Douglasdale police, said he could only confirm one reported case involving a motorbike in an armed robbery on the William Nicol Dive off-ramp.
According to Muthan, the victim was waiting for the robot to change on the off-ramp when he was robbed of his backpack.
Edna Mamonyane, spokesperson for Metro police urged motorists and bikers to treat each and every intersection as a crime hotspot and to always be vigilant at all intersections.
