Riding Lynda’s Royal Darco in the Intermediate Warm-up class, Records scored 65 percent to place second, while in the Intermediate Challenge, she scored 60.197 percent to place fifth.

Records rode her own horse, Rathmor Caprice, in the WDC Advanced Warm-up and in the Challenge to score second and first place respectively.

Records also rode Privato’s horse Milmac’s El Encanto Tercio in the Advanced 2 Warm-up and Advanced 2 Challenge to score first and fourth place respectively.

Privato’s horse Addcon El Encanto Sevilla and Records placed third in the Novice 5 Challenge, while in the same class, Records scored 64.688 percent on horse owner Robyn Sinclair’s, Midas Touch Euphoric, and in the Novice 5 Warm-up, horse and rider combination scored 60.833 percent.

“It’s a very levelling sport,” said Records during the challenge.

“It’s not like cycling or ball sports where one would use inanimate objects. A horse, just like ourselves, has a mind and moods of its own. On one day, a rider and horse can take first place without much effort. On the next, the horse may be distracted or worse, spooked, and may not perform well at all.”

Lynda, brimmed with pride at her daughter’s achievements. “It’s her dedication to her sport that allows her to do so well. She lives by Gary Players’ philosophy which states, ‘the harder I work, the luckier I get’.”

Records also competed on Midas Touch Euphoric, Equinox Padover, Team Soba’s Ulisses, Rathmor Caprice, Milmac’s El Encanto Tercio and Royal Darco in the Gauteng teams in their respective grades.
