“Although this is not a new sponsor, we are excited by the value of introducing Oxigen, an Indian brand, to our suit of sponsors,” said Cricket South Africa’s chief executive, Haroon Lorgat.

“The Proteas are a globally recognised brand with huge support in India, and this exciting development by Blue Label Telecoms is both unique and a first for Cricket South Africa.”

Pramod Saxena, chairman and managing director of Oxigen said, “This is a milestone moment for Oxigen. India has a deep-rooted history with South Africa in its fight for freedom which has resulted in significant relationships encompassing brotherhood.”

Meanwhile, after a three-month break from international cricket, the South African team is ready to continue their resurgence on the world stage.

Proteas T20 captain Faf du Plessis said the hiatus had given the team a much-needed break and they could not wait to get back onto the field. “The boys have had a good rest and they are looking forward to the series. We have a long season ahead of us, but it’s not always easy to get back to where you left off,” said Du Plessis.

The Proteas have departed for Bangladesh and will play two T20 matches, three One Day Internationals and two Test matches.
