Kindness does not cost a thing

FOURWAYS – Montecasino has embarked on an initiative to support Acts of Random Kindness, better known as Ark’s, to influence a change for good, particularly for disadvantaged people.

The Montecasino Ark initiative entails distributing 70 000 Noah’s ark-shaped money boxes to South African celebrities and to the general public, thereby challenging them to fill the boxes up with money and pass them on to a charity or less fortunate person of their choice.

“In reaching out to the media, to influencers, and to celebrities to join the initiative, we hope to inspire a groundswell of goodwill in the country that will supersede negativity, anxiety and discontent,” said Montecasino general manager, Glenn Joseph.

“Lots of little acts of kindness by many people can go a long way towards making the world a better place and helping people to focus on what unites us, rather than what divides us,” added Joseph.

“We at Montecasino are always on a mission to ensure that people have memorable experiences when they are with us. We’d like to extend the positive experiences to beyond the bounds of Montecasino into the world where life can be extremely hard for some people.”

Among the celebrities who have ‘adopted’ a Montecasino Ark and committed to filling them with money and passing them on to someone of their choosing are Lunga Shabalala, Kriya Gangiah, Pigspotter, Lee-Roy Wright, Daniel Baron, Brett Palframan and Deena Naidoo.

People who have received Arks are invited to take a photo of it and spread the word using the #ChangeTheWorldForGood hashtag on Twitter, and also let people know that they can collect their Arks at Montecasino Bird Gardens or Movie Theatre by the end of June.

“This is one of those projects that anyone and everyone, young and old, can get involved in. And where everybody ends up being a winner. The initiative is all about kindness and goodness – and we’re proud to put our name to it,” Joseph concluded.
