Out of the bunker, onto the green

BROADACRES - Dainfern pupil Emerson Bam held his spirits high in the face of sullen Scottish weather during the 2015 US Kids Golf Tournament recently.

The tournament began in 2000 as an extension of US Kids Golf, LLC, an American company aimed directly at child golfers. Children come from all over the world to participate in the golf extravaganza, which is held annually on the Scottish Links – some of the oldest and most highly-esteemed golf courses in the world.

Bam fought the elements and ended 35th out of a total of 60 participants.

“[Emerson] is currently our top player in the prep school,” said Deidré Proxenos, Dainfern’s marketing manager.

Bam wore waterproof clothing to protect himself from the elements, which couldn’t provide full protection. The school is very proud of his achievements, she said.

Proxenos explained how Bam had to dry out his clubs in front of a radiator each night before the following day’s play due to the extremity of the weather, yet he was still able to pull through and represent Dainfern well.
