“We have been working together with the MEC [for Community Safety, Sizakele Nkosi-Malobane] and Douglasdale Community Policing Forum,” said deputy chairperson for the board, TJ Masilela.

“And we are pleased to announce that the parties are addressing the issue of fundraising and parameters around this, together with relevant aspects of the CPF constitution.”

Masilela further stated that both parties have identified the areas of concern, and the constitution will be work-shopped with all youth desks throughout Gauteng in order to ensure proper compliance.

“The board wishes to assure the public it will warrant at all times that proper corporate governance will be applied to all funds raised in its, or any of its constituent community policing clusters and forums, and that such funds are subject to external audit,” said Masilela.

Douglasdale Community Policing Board chairperson Jean Berdou stated that he was pleased that the matter was being attended to on a provincial level.

“Further information on this will be made available once all related queries are finalised,” Berdou concluded.
