29 Shacks burnt to the ground in Msawawa
MSAWAWA - A fire broke out in Msawawa informal settlement, near Farmall at 2am on 14 June and around 29 shacks have been burnt to the ground.

The Douglasdale Community Policing Forum has already made a donation of blankets, food and clothing to the victims of the Msawawa shack fire.
However the forum is appealing to the community to donate more blankets, food and clothing, to be distributed to the victims of the fire.

The fire was allegedly started intentionally.
According to Msawawa community members, two men had gotten into a scuffle on the night of 13 June.

One of the men then retired to his shack to sleep.
The other man then doused the sleeping man’s shack in petrol and set it alight.
The fire got out of control and neighbouring shacks were also burned.
Both the men have been taken to hospital to be treated for severe burn wounds.
No other injuries have been reported yet.
