Landmark deal to see KFC continue with mini-cricket programme

JOBURG - IN WHAT is hailed as a landmark deal, KFC South Africa and Cricket South Africa (CSA) recently concluded an agreement that will see the KFC Mini-Cricket programme extended for another decade.

The successful programme, aimed at encouraging kids to participate in sports, has been sponsored by KFC for the past five years and has seen a whopping 110 000 kids actively participate on a regular basis.

Haroon Lorgat, chief executive officer of CSA, expressed joy at KFC’s extension of the agreement, highlighting the positive impact it will have on the continued development of cricket in the country.

“I am overjoyed by KFC’s willingness to partner with us for a further 10 years; such long-term investment is unheard of in today’s sporting climate and I want to thank KFC for their vision and great partnership with CSA,” said Lorgat.

“This is where our pipeline starts and this is where KFC’s commitment has ensured that we can bring together thousands of boys and girls all around the country to grow the game and to unearth future international stars.”

Adding to this was Mike Middleton, chief marketing officer for KFC Africa, who explained that the company hoped to get kids to lead active lifestyles through the programme. He also stressed that KFC would continue partnering with the cricket association to take development of cricket to another level.
