‘Help me fix my face’

PARKMORE - A MAN with a disfigured face is raising funds to be able to afford plastic surgery on his disfigured face so that he can get a job.

William Mavhava (28) has been approaching businesses in Parkmore to help him pay for the operation. He sustained burns to his face and chest from boiling water.

“My mother said when I was four years old she was giving me a bath and I started playing with a pot of boiling water that was next to me, then the water fell on top of me,” explained Mavhava.

He said growing up was difficult as he was constantly ridiculed and never accepted by his community.

He added that throughout his life he had been faced with challenges.

“When people see me in the streets they run away,” said Mavhava.

“When I go to shopping centres in search of funds, the security guards chase me away and tell me I do not belong here.”

Mavhava currently stays in a little room in Tembisa and has been searching for a job in Pretoria and Johannesburg.

“No one wants to hire me with this face,” he added.

“This is why I want help to fix my face so that I can find a job.”
