The club and its employees had no part in the incident and did assist in the separation and breaking up of the fight. Club employees were not part of the incident, and to our knowledge the fight broke out between two groups of men within the club over personal matters and issues. All employees have given statements to the police and we have been fully cooperative throughout the investigation and will continue to do so.”

On his Facebook page, the man’s father is fuming over the beating of his son. The post was circulated many times on social media. The father accused the club manager, bouncers and resident DJ of doing nothing to save his son from the beating.

“In this case, as far as we know, my son was innocent and assaulted for no reason. Also, as far as we know, the investigation is ongoing, the bouncers, club manager and even the resident DJ DID NOTHING TO PROTECT HIM. In fact, it seems that they got involved and partook in the assault,” fumed the father.

Douglasdale police spokesman Warrant Officer Balan Muthan confirmed that one suspect was on bail on charges of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm. Muthan said a couple of suspects were still on the run.

The man’s father, an ex-cop, added that his son’s emotional scars might never smooth out.

“My son had to undergo nearly four hours of reconstructive surgery on Wednesday to repair the damage that these thugs inflicted upon him. He will forever bear the physical, as well as emotional, scars of this event,” said the ex-cop.
