Pet care company donates blankets to charities through MixFM

MIDRAND - LOCAL animal shelters received some of the 300 blankets donated by Marltons to local radio MixFm for distribution.

Pet care company, Marlton’s representative, Adolph van der Westhuizen, said the company supports charities every year and, this time, they chose to donate blankets.

MixFM presenter Roxy Blows said MixFM donates blankets and dog food throughout the year to animal rescue centres that are in need, and this month they received some support from Marltons.

“We donated the blankets to Midrand SPCA, Barking Mad and Woodrock Animal Rescue so that animals can be warm this winter,” she said. The three charities got 100 blankets each.

Blows added that with winter fast approaching, the radio station would like to challenge other companies and community members to donate to a non-profit organisation through the winter challenge that is being run by MixFM.

Estelle Meldau from Woodrock, said every year in winter Woodrock starts getting geared up to put out a plea to the public to donate blankets. She added, “This year, thanks to Marltons and MixFM, there is no need for us to panic. We are grateful for the blankets to help our 150 homeless dogs.”

Midrand SPCA chairperson Brenda Lucas and Barking Mad’s Pat Barr-Sanders said they are very thankful for the generous donation of blankets for the animals at the animal shelters.
