Hirsch’s and Earthbeat partner to collect clothes

PINESLOPES – HIRSCH’S and educational DSTV’s EarthBeat, a programme on sustainable environmental solutions, have partnered to collect second-hand clothes for Clothes2Good.

Clothes2Good is a national company that purchases second-hand clothes to raise money for sustainable education programmes for a variety of schools in the areas in which they operate.

Kerry Dell of EarthBeat said money raised from the collection of these clothes will go towards lesson plans on sustainable living for schools selected by Hirsch’s who have offered to set up collection points in all their branches for the second-hand clothes.

“Clothes2Good will then sort and send on the clothes to the Blind and Deaf Society in Kwa-Zulu Natal, the Uhambo Foundation for people with disabilities in Cape Town and Pathways Learning Centre in Gauteng where the clothes will be rehabilitated and sold on to raise funding for these associations,” he said.

Branded collection boxes will be set up in all the Hirsch’s stores around the country, including the store in Fourways on the corner of The Straight Road and Forest Drive in Pineslopes. The public is invited to drop off packets of unwanted clothing to leave in the boxes. The clothes collection campaign will run until the end of June.
