The trust, a non-governmental organisation which is based at the Witkoppen Clinic on William Nicol Drive in Fourways, conducted the protest in conjunction with Witkoppen Primary School to express their concerns about the impact of xenophobia on children.
The trust spoke to the pupils of the school about xenophobia and asked the children to explore their knowledge of xenophobia and express their thoughts about the matter.
Social workers from the trust then conducted an exercise whereby pupils could express their feelings about xenophobia on placards. The pupils then picketed along William Nicol Drive, outside the school, during their school break.
The exercise was done to instil a sense of caring in each child and for them to learn to protect each other’s human rights at an early age.
