Police launch manhunt for Da Costa’s killers

FOURWAYS – Condolences keep pouring in for local businesswoman, Celia da Costa (49), who was murdered on the M1 highway on 2 May.

Da Costa is part owner of the Rodizio Brazillian Restaurant franchise, who has branches at both the Leaping Frog Shopping Centre on William Nicol Drive and one in Bedfordview.
It was confirmed by Gauteng Provincial police spokesperson, Lieutenant Kay Makhubela, that Da Costa was travelling north on the M1 highway from the Lusito Land Festival toward Sandton with a staff member when they were cornered by a Mercedes-Benz and a VW Golf.
“The woman and the unidentified staff member were then pulled from the vehicle and shot after an altercation with the suspects,” stated Makhubela. “The woman was shot in the left side of her neck.”
The suspects then allegedly forced the boot of Da Costa’s car open with a crowbar before fleeing with an undisclosed amount of goods. A manhunt has been launched by police and is expected to yield results soon.
Rodizio management could not be reached for comment at this stage.

Lusito Land’s twitter page posted the following after the incident:
