Douglasdale officer is loud and proud

DOUGLASDALE - Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Balan Muthan's distinctive bakkie is a fixture at the Douglasdale Police Station, but its also a familiar sight at sound competitions.

At the Rand Show Team Targa, of which Muthan is a member, he competed in the International Auto Sounds Challenge Association (IASCA) World Record Show.

The team was led by Roupesh Koosialee, who retained his title of having the loudest sound system reaching a decibel level of 177.9.

However, Koosialee also led his team to victory, breaking five world records including loudest 2 X 12 car in the world with 164.1 decibels.

Yet the big winner was Muthan’s ‘Tamil Tiger’ embellished bakkie which received the title of Loudest Uncut Bakkie in the World after its sound system reached 156.5 decibels.
