Drug user points out alleged drug dealer to police

BLOUBOSRAND - Douglasdale police recently seized R15 000 worth of cocaine and arrested an alleged drug dealer at a complex in Bloubosrand.

According to Warrant Officer Balan Muthan, head of communications for Douglasdale police, two police officers were patrolling Bloubosrand in a squad car when they were hailed down by a man at the corner of Witkoppen and Riverbend roads.

The man told the police officers that he was a drug user and told them that his dealer lived in a complex on Riverbend Road. The man gave the officers the name of the complex and the unit number of the alleged drug dealer. The officers called for back-up and then went to the complex to search the suspect’s home. Upon searching the apartment, the police officers found 28 packets of cocaine hidden inside a pillow. The estimated street value of the drugs is R15 000. According to Muthan, the cost of each packet is roughly R300.

The suspect, who was in his late 30s, admitted that the drugs were his.

The suspect was arrested and has been charged with possession and dealing of drugs.
