The case continued on the 16 April where the court was shown surveillance footage of the two accused, Maruschka Robinson and Jean Pierre Malan, at Montecasino behaving as though nothing had happened on the night Blom was murdered.
According to Independent Online, the footage was presented by Clinton Wayne Vigne, assistant surveillance manager at Montecasino, and showed the couple arriving at the VIP parking lot in a white Volvo. It also showed the couple being affectionate towards each other, and using Blom’s credit card later on in the evening inside the casino.
Although the pair didn’t plead guilty to murder, Robinson pleaded guilty to five counts of fraud and to being present when the body was taken and dropped off at Montecasino. Malan pleaded guilty to nine counts of fraud, attempting to defeat the ends of justice as well as being in possession of identity documents that didn’t belong to him.
Both the accused admitted to using Blom’s cards, purchasing goods worth close to R10 000 and withdrawing R27 500 from his account.
The trial continues on 17 April and the accused remain in custody.
