Splashing their way to victory

LONEHILL - Reddam House Constantia splashed their way to victory against Roedean on 1 March at the Shaun Fuchs Cup held at Crawford College Lonehill.

“The four-day school girls polo event is much anticipated on the school’s calendar,” said principal of Crawford College Lonehill, Shaun Fuchs. An avid polo player and coach himself, Fuchs has been running and heading the tournament for the past few years at the school.

“Polo is such a big sport at our school and we encourage the girls to join the teams and develop themselves within the sport,” he said. Fuchs added that he was honoured when parents and pupils at the school decided to name the cup after him.

He said, “The tournament brings together schools from all over the country that promotes the sport. Girls do not have much summer sports to participate in, however this cup allows them to get fit and be part of a team.” The college provided all the teams participating in the tournament with a weekend to remember, as there were many nail biting and close calls in the pool. Fuchs said he cannot wait for next year’s cup.
