Shamrocking for a cause

BRYANSTON – Society for Animals in Distress, an animal welfare organisation, will put the ‘fun’ in fundraising by hosting an evening on 13 March filled with impeccable dining, Irish dancing and various forms of great entertainment.

Themed ‘Shamrock ‘n 60s’, the event promises to be a thriller of a St. Patrick’s Day themed celebration and will be held at the Bryanston Country Club from 7pm. The organisation invites groups to come and enjoy the evening with them surrounded by friends, families and good company.

“All our fundraising events are an opportunity to host and welcome our donors and animal lovers,” said the organisation’s fundraising manager, Carmen Douglas-Kilfoil. “But with this type of event, we would also like to encourage and receive the support of local businesses.”

Douglas-Kilfoil further explained that the evening would be a great corporate time-out for businesses who would like to thank their executives and office teams for their hard work, or even take clients to the dinner to thank them for their support. Thereby inturn, supporting the organisation’s good cause.

“Either way, we are looking forward to a wonderful evening with great prizes, music, dancing and delicious Irish fare,” said Douglas-Kilfoil.

Tickets for the fundraiser can be pre-purchased for R550 per person, or can be purchased for R600 at the door. This will include a three course meal, traditional Irish dancing and the ambient sounds of classic hit songs from the ’60s.

That’s not all, however, as Irish-born multi-instrumentalist Dave Monks will also perform, ensuring that this will be a St. Patrick’s Day celebration worth attending.
