What to expect when you’re expecting

SUNNINGHILL - Netcare Sunninghill hospital will hold two pregnancy awareness days on 10 and 11 February to coincide with Pregnancy Awareness Week.

The awareness days are a wonderful opportunity for expectant mothers and their partners to get answers they may have about pregnancy, birth and postnatal care.

“Netcare believes in empowering women who are pregnant or who want to fall pregnant by making information available on health during pregnancy, how to prepare for the birth, various delivery options and what to expect after the baby’s birth,” said Sister Louise Archary, co-ordinator at Suninghill hospital’s Stork’s Nest mother and baby wellness clinic.

Aspects that will be discussed at the awareness days include; nutrition and exercise during pregnancy, how partners of pregnant women can be supportive during and after pregnancy, breastfeeding promotion and advice, postnatal depression, admission to the maternity unity, the Netcare Maternity Passport which offers a range of antenatal and postnatal services to parents and babies and the range of integrated services offered by the Stork’s Nest clinic to expectant parents, new mothers and babies up to the age of five years.

Those attending will also be offered the opportunity to tour the hospital’s maternity unity to familiarise themselves with the facilities and ease any anxiety they may have.

In addition, representatives of various suppliers of pregnancy and breastfeeding services and products will exhibit at the awareness days and there will be a lucky draw for a baby hamper.

The awareness days will be held on 10 and 11 February in the foyer of Sunninghill hospital from 8am to 3pm. No booking is required.
