Dogs get a second chance in life

FOURWAYS - Laura Whittaker of Pet Empowerment in Townships told Fourways Review that the organisation fetched and rescued two dogs with severely broken legs in the Orange Farm township.

Whittaker said both dogs had to have amputations as their broken limbs were too severe to mend.

The dogs were from different families and ran away on New Year’s Eve due to fireworks,” she added. The families only found their dogs two weeks later and both had broken legs.

She stated the organisation is not sure how they had broken their legs.

She said, “They are coping extremely well on three legs. We can’t take amputees back to the township as the conditions there are too harsh for them.”

Whittaker noted the dogs are known as Zikki and Zuska. These two loving dogs are looking for forever homes. Both dogs are females and are about a year old.

She said the dogs are currently in foster care and are coping well with other dogs. If anyone is looking to adopt these beautiful girls, they can contact the organisation’s website.
