Puppy love to go around

CHARTWELL - Tyler Dent, a Grade 6 pupil at Crawford Lonehill, recently celebrated 100 hours of service to the community, with her continued work at Ark Animal Centre located in Chartwell.

The shelter is a non-profit organisation which relies on donations and help from the public and specialises in homing and caring for puppies and pregnant dogs. Among Dent’s duties are the washing and cleaning of the dogs, their pens and blankets and generally keeping the shelter tidy. She also grooms, feeds and walks the puppies and dogs.

“Tyler has always had an empathy for animals and said her favourite job at the centre is caring for the animals, particularly the puppies and she finds assisting in adoptions especially gratifying,” said her mother, Carol Dent. She added that Tyler has recently adopted a kitten that was brought into the shelter. Carol said she has such a big heart and loves caring for others.

Ark centre manager Tracy Otto said, “I would like to thank Tyler for all her hard work and encourage the public to assist us by providing a new lease of life and a forever home for our residents.”

The centre has an adoption fee of R900 which includes inoculations, de-worming, a rabies shot and sterilisation when the puppy reaches six months. All donations given to the centre go toward providing veterinary care, food and quality living conditions for the animals at the facility.
