Douglasdale police protest over labour dispute

DOUGLASDALE - Douglasdale police were staging a protest at the station on 29 January.

Douglasdale Community Policing Forum chairperson Jean Berdou said a labour dispute led to the protest.

Such dispute was reported by Fourways Review in August last year.

Some community members took to Twitter to describe what they saw at the police station on the morning of 29 January. @TiyaniMbhalati tweeted, “Douglasdale police station, police officers on strike.”

@Setsopo tweeted, “@TimModise what is going on at Douglasdale police station, cops on strike? Protesting against being called the K word by white supervisors.”

@GabbiLeigh tweeted, “@Pigspotter cops at douglasdale police station all grouped for photoshoot and filming…anyone know what is happening?”

Fourways Review‘s senior journalist Varushka Padayachi is on her way to the scene and updates will follow.
