Residents used twitter to voice their unhappiness about the unplanned outage which, for some, started as early as the night of 8 January.
Cameron Mackenzie tweeted, “@jhbwater no water in Cedar Lakes/Maroeladal in Fourways since last night, no warning. What’s up and why why why does this happen so much?” While George Dube tweeted, “Are we being water-shedded? No water since last night in the Fourways area @jhbwater.”
Joburg Water responded by explaining that the cause of the water outage in many parts of Fourways was a major pipe in Steyn City bursting on 8 January. Joburg Water added that a team was onsite working on repairs, but they were also trying alternative ways to restore the water while the team works on the repairs.
