New Miss SA jets off to Miss Universe pageant

JOBURG - Following Rolene Strauss' impressive win at the 2014 Miss World pageant, newly crowned Miss South Africa Ziphozakhe Zokufa will hold the country’s hopes up as she represents the country at the Miss Universe pageant.

Zokufa will represent South Africa against 90 other countries at the competition, which will take place on 25 January at the FIU Arena at Florida International University in Miami.

Zokufa, a 23-year-old model and TV production student from Port Elizabeth, was crowned the new Miss South Africa in December after Rolene Strauss won the Miss World title in London.

She previously held the title of first princess. Zokufa expressed pride at being chosen to represent the country at the prestigious competition and hoped to make the country proud.

“I have been looking forward to this event from the moment of my crowning and will carry the Miss South Africa title with pride. I not only represent myself, but also the entire country.”

Sun International public relations manager, Claudia Henkel expressed confidence in Zokufa, saying that she would represent the country well.

“It would be a wonderful achievement should Zakufa win Miss Universe 2014/2015, [making it] a truly remarkable celebration for our nation.”
