Boks to take on Proteas for Madiba

JOBURG - As the anniversary of Nelson Mandela's death draws nearer, the sports community is gearing up to commemorate the late icon's legacy.

The national cricket and rugby teams will take part in an iconic cricket match for the inaugural Nelson Mandela Legacy Cup.

The Springboks revealed Mark Boucher, the former Proteas wicketkeeper, as their coach and he expressed excitement at the upcoming match.

“This is a unique challenge and I’m very excited to be involved with the Springboks. I know the Springboks are not celebrated for their cricketing skills but… these boys know how to handle a cricket bat and ball,” he said.

Momentum Investment’s head of marketing, Vina Naidoo, said it was a privilege to sponsor the cup as it was a platform to display their commitment to social initiatives.

The match will take place at the Wanderers stadium on 5 December with tickets available on www.ticketpro.co.za. Patrons can support the legacy and the future of the youth by pledging R30 on 42607.
