A cuppa for cancer

OLIVEDALE- Mr SA finalist 2014, Armand du Plessis, brightened up the faces of many elderly female residents of the newly established Olivedale Retirement Village on 25 November.

A Cuppa for Cansa initiative was held in aid of bringing smiles and joy to the residents, and all funds raised on the day went towards cancer research.

30 guests all adorned in white and pink attire came out to support the cause and raised R2 800.

The morning started off with a delicious English breakfast, prepared by the retirements caterers. Dave Greenwood, a Cansa volunteer and keen musician kept the guests on their toes with his best sounds. Many hostesses prepared their specially baked cakes for the presentation.

The winner of the best table presentation competition was taken by Charmain Matthee; and Eileen Gebhardt won the price for the best baked cake. All prizes were sponsored by the village’s hair and beauty department.

Staff and management of CSI Property Management and the managing agents of the retirement village attended the event. “It was a joyous occasion and we look forward to hosting another similar event in May next year,” said Tracy-Lynne Daling of the village.
