Tough ones run through the rain

FOURWAYS - Competitors in the 41st Rand Athletic Club City Lodge Tough One Road Race pushed on till the very end despite having to run through a storm.

The event is an annual 32km race that takes place on the streets of Joburg North.

More than 4 000 runners negotiated the hilly course, which is called ‘The Tough One’ for a good reason. Most runners reported that the rain actually made the course more manageable as they much preferred the coolness to the discomfort of a hot day. Several of the participants in the race actually completed the Momentum 947 Cycle Challenge the weekend before.

The race was sponsored by the City Lodge Hotel Group for the seventh consecutive year. The annual event attracted an excellent spread of entries from young to old and slow to fast.
