Rocky Horror rocks

MONTECASINO - The Pieter Toerien Theatre was filled with excited fans ready to do the time warp again for the gala night of the Rocky Horror Show on 23 November.

High heels, fishnet stockings and corsets were plentiful at the hit musical, which is famous for audience participation and dress up.

The audience went a little crazy during the opening number Science Fiction/Double Feature and the giddy mood didn’t stop there, with the audience interacting with the cast and making good use of their participation packs which included newspapers and glow sticks.

According to Rocky Horror fan, Clare Wallett the musical was a complete success, “Everything I imagined the show to be was exceeded, from the costumes, to the dances and to the singing, it was magical.

“Brendan van Rhyn was exceptional as the sweet transsexual Dr Frank-N-Furter, and the addition of live music with an incredible set make the musical a must-see.”

The Rocky Horror Show will be on at Montecasino until 30 March next year. Show-specific participation packs will be on sale at each performance and audience members are encouraged to dress up, although the official dress-up nights are at every 8pm performance on Friday and Saturday nights.

Performances run from Tuesdays to Fridays at 8pm, Saturdays at 4pm and 8pm and Sundays at 2pm and 6pm.

Ticket prices range from R100 to R350 and are available through Computicket or the theatre’s box office.

The producers of the show recommend an age restriction of 16 and also advise that strobe lighting is used extensively.
