Resident’s heartfelt plea

DIEPSLOOT - A Douglasdale resident has been so moved by the giving spirit of a Diepsloot creche owner that he has initiated a toy collection for the creche.

Larry Levenberg spoke warmly of the Diepsloot creche owner, whom he knows only as Grace.

“Grace runs the Tshegofatso Perfect Home for Kids in Diepsloot,” he said.

“They have 25 kids from the age of one to four.”

According to Levenberg, the creche charges parents a monthly fee of R270, this covers the cost of two hot meals a day for each of the children as well as salaries for the carers.

“Grace is a single mother and raises her Down syndrome son by herself,” Levenberg said.

“She suffered a stroke a few years ago but still managed to register her daycare centre and even did courses to become a qualified creche owner.”

The creche will have their annual graduation party on 29 November, and Pick n Pay Douglasdale has already donated

R500 to the creche. Levenberg said he will use the money to buy groceries for the creche.

Local security company, Nightguard has committed to help Levenberg transport the groceries to the creche on 29 November. They have also donated gifts to each child at the creche. The Party Pack in Douglasdale also donated 30 bottles of bubbles for the party. Levenberg is encouraging the Fourways community to get involved by donating new or used toys to the creche to be handed out at their graduation party.

He will take all the toys, groceries and presents to the creche with Nightguard on 29 November at 11.30am.

Toy donations can be dropped off at the guard house of The Highlands complex at 10 Galloway Avenue in Douglasdale.
