VIDEO: Montecasino balloon falls out of the sky – social media reacts
MAGALIESIG - Eyewitnesses report that the Montecasino balloon came loose from its tether and floated away.
The basket became detached from the balloon and crashed to the ground, but the actual balloon floated away.. Emer-G-Med paramedics treated one person on scene for minor injuries.
The Magaliessig Action Forum, Magaliessig’s Residents’ Association reported that the balloon had fallen in Cranberry Lane in Magaliessig.
Along with Emer-G-Med paramedics, the Douglasdale police also responded to the scene.
According to Warrant Officer Balan Muthan, head of communications for the Douglasdale police, the balloon was coming down from a routine check and an operator was inside the basket when a heavy gust of wind forced the balloon off its tether.
Meanwhile social media reacted promptly to the event, tracking the whereabouts of the balloon until its landing.
