Indian flavour comes to Montecasino

TSG Events, the organisers of the event, held an exclusive preview of the festival at the Montecasino conference room to introduce the concept to the public. The three-day festival will take place from 28 to 30 November and will celebrate every aspect of Indian culture, from music to food, dance, fashion, trade and artwork. “This festival will celebrate the many delights of Indian culture, the fire of the Tandoori, the myriad colours of delicate silks, mesmerising dances, enchanting melodies and ofcourse the glitz and glamour of Bollywood,” organiser Shalandra Mallgee said.

The landmark festival will not only provide several days of entertainment, but it will empower small businesses and local traders by facilitating their participation as exhibitors and suppliers in a high profile event. “Montecasino is very excited to play host to the Shades of India Festival and to bring the sights, sounds, colours and flavours of India to the Fourways doorstep,” Glenn Joseph, general manager of Montecasino said. According to Mallgee, the festival aims to incorporate all language and cultural groups of India within a diverse programme. Some of the activities on offer will include cultural performances, fashion parades, comedy shows, Indian craft stalls and the all important food stalls. There will also be a live Bhangra Bash, which is an experience similar to being in an open-air nightclub with live music. “Indian culture forms an integral part of South African history so we take pride in bringing its traditions and global appeal to all South Africans and creating an opportunity for the community to grow and develop a strong legacy,” Mallgee said.

Daily entrance to the festival will cost R100 per person. Comedy shows will cost between R160 to R185 and tickets for the live Bhangra Bash will cost R225 per person.
