Music legends rock for a reason

SANDTON - SA Bachelor of the Year finalist, Guy Saben rocked for a reason with South African music legends, Cindy Alter and Glenda Sixel at the Hard Rock Cafe in Sandton.

Alter and Sixel made up the iconic band Clout who made music history when their hit song Subsititute sold 12 million copies worldwide. Alter is also a cancer survivor and has been clear of leukaemia for 11 years. She continues to actively perform on the live gig scene and recently released her new single Thrive, which she performed at the event. Her autobiography, aptly entitled No Substitute, is scheduled for release in November.

Saben held the event to raise funds for Cansa and hopes to make the Rock for a Reason gala dinner an annual fixture.

Guests were treated to the once in a lifetime experience of seeing Clout back on stage after 10 years. “Tonight triggered an emotion that I haven’t felt in a very long time, adoration,” Saben said. “Not only did Cindy Alter surpass her incredible talent but I also respect her for her bravery, talent and kindness.”
