30 000 rock out at JoburgDay

LANSERIA- ALL records were shattered on 13 September when 947 FM and MTN South Africa took to Crocodile Creek Polo Club in Lanseria, to host the biggest one-day music festival the city has to offer.

Over 30 000 music fans flocked to the venue from as early as 6am to grab a prime spot as the day celebrated 15 of the country’s top artists and bands, against the backdrop of a beautiful spring day.

It was one of the city’s most highly anticipated events and the hosts pulled out all the stops.

From a killer rap performance by AKA, to Locnville who completely captivated the crowd, the stage was filled with the best in music and entertainment, on a local and international level, leaving the audience in awe.

“Our partnership with major sponsors all support in recognising and rewarding our musicians and have continued to provide platforms for music festivals showcasing the best of South Africa’s music talent,” said Larry Annetts, CEO at MTN SA.

From a digital front, #947JoburgDay trended on Twitter nationally throughout the day on Saturday and most of Sunday morning. Thousands of local and international fans tuned into the live stream to catch all the action as and when it happened.

Khwezi Magwaza, digital content manager for Primedia Broadcasting, explained how this year his team pushed the boundaries and allowed artists and producers to give fans a sneak peak into the making of the festival, as well as an insight into their lives.

The festival hosted the likes of Prime Circle, Mafikizolo, Jeremy Loops, DJ Kent, Pascal & Pearce, Matthew Mole, Gangs of Ballet, LCNVL, Van Coke Kartel, AKA, Beatenberg, Monark, ShortStraw and Mi Casa.

Annetts promised JoburgDay fans that next year would be bigger and even better.
