Cops arrest thieves just hours after robbery

BRYANSTON - Three suspects were arrested in the early hours of 26 August by Sandton police, just hours after a robbery in Bryanston.

Sandton detectives investigated the crime scene immediately after the robbery took place in a house on St James Street at about 7.30pm on the evening of 25 August. They succeeded in arresting two men, aged 49 and 25, in Soweto, and a woman, aged 31, in Bryanston.

A resident at the affected house alleged that, after he heard his daughter screaming outside the house, she entered with the three suspects, who threatened the man and his daughter with firearms, and tied them up in a bedroom.

The suspects ransacked the house and fled in the victims’ vehicle with jewellery, laptops, a sound system and cellphones. The stolen property and the vehicle were recovered when the suspects were arrested.

All three suspects are due to appear in the Randburg Magistrates’ Court on 27 August, on charges of house robbery.
