Husband beats wife for phone

BLUE HILLS - A woman was assaulted by her husband while walking on a road in Blue Hills.

Constable Matome Tlamela, head of communications for Midrand police, said that on 29 July at 10am the woman was walking along Trotting Road with two female friends. The three women were on their way to Olievenhoutbosch shopping centre when the complainant’s husband suddenly grabbed her from behind and demanded that she give him her cellphone.

According to Constable Tlamela, the complainant refused because she was using her cellphone at the time. Her husband then allegedly began assaulting her without saying a word. The woman sustained injuries to her face and the suspect was arrested and is being detained at Midrand Police Station.

Constable Tlamela said the suspect was free from injury.
