Beer with some va va voom

FOURWAYS - The best way to explain Beerhouse would be think of it as the neighbourhood bar, but while it's hosting the Oscars.

And instead of long flutes filled with French bubbles, it’s tall glasses with some really good beer.

Beerhouse started on Long Street in Cape Town, and setting up shop in Johannesburg was a matter of course.

Luckily Beerhouse Fourways opened on 24 July with a swarm of beer lovers thirsty for the 99 bottles of beer they offer.

The launch also coincided with the launch of the Beerhouse’s own house brew, Gold Rush.

“This African Pale Ale is a collaboration between SMACK!Republic in Joburg and Lakeside in Cape Town,” explained owner, or as he prefers it, head dreamer of Beerhouse, Randolf Jorgen.

The beer forms part of the international brands they offer, but what really stands out is the food they offer. It is pub food, but at the Oscars. It’s unapologetically huge portions of grub, carefully selected to work well with foamy beer.

Jorgen and his team are already working on expanding the Beerhouse brand with more pubs to open throughout South Africa, but Joburg can rest-assured that at least the City of Gold was the first to taste Gold Rush.
