Strikers abandon Megawatt Park

It seemed to be business as usual for Eskom staff who entered and exited the premises unhindered on the morning of 3 July.

A security guard at the Maxwell Road entrance of Megawatt Park said that the strike on 2 July had been peaceful despite strikers having ignored a court interdict obtained by Eskom to bar them from striking. The security guard was sure that the strikers would not return to Eskom’s head office on 3 July although the strike continued on 15th Road in Midrand. “I think that if their demands aren’t met they [the strikers] will return to Megawatt Park next week,” the security guard said.
