Slow down in horsey areas

CHARTWELL -On 19 June I was walking my horse along Seven Oaks Road in Chartwell and I could hear this guy flying up behind us so I pulled my horse into a bush on the side of the road.

This driver drove past me on my horse at probably triple the speed limit of this road.

I have grown up in this area and have been riding these roads for 30 years and no one has ever driven past me like that.

This area is still a horsey area. There are numerous children’s yards in the area.

We all avoid Third Road as this road has become too busy especially with people swerving to avoid potholes.

People just drive too fast past horses.

I have been hit by a car on a horse in Kyalami before and that car was probably going at about 40km/h. It happens in a split second. I am appealing to all drivers in Chartwell and other horsey areas to please slow down for animals on the road.
