An endearing tale of vegetables and jokes

MAGALIESSIG- Scoobs Montecasino held the book launch of Tucker's Deadline written by Robin Binckes.

The book is based on a true story and reflects life, interactions and experiences in South Africa.

It tells the tale of a man, Irving Tucker, who married an English girl, Yvonne, and left South Africa in 1976 to farm sheep on the Welsh border.

This story explains how the pair began growing their own organic vegetables and living a healthy lifestyle. They returned to South Africa each year on holiday and encountered different activities and attitudes as the couple were childless.

The book deals with Irving’s complex personality and his love of practical jokes, and traces the relationship between him and the writer over the period between 1961 to 2011.
