Police raid liquor outlets in Fourways

DOUGLASDALE- Douglasdale police confiscated numerous crates of beer in an operation related to Children's Week.

Children’s Week was observed from 28 April to 5 May.

Warrant Officer Balan Muthan said that the liquor was confiscated in the efforts of bringing down crime pertaining to domestic violence and violence against women and children.

“Douglasdale police have embarked on a project whereby local legal and illegal liquor outlets will be visited and raided on a regular basis in conjunction with all necessary role players involved in the Liquor Act,” he said.

Muthan added there have been a number of road accidents and fatalities in the Fourways area recently which have been related to driving under the influence, therefore individuals arrested for drunken driving will be severely dealt with in the Douglasdale policing area.
